Bollywood Stars Walk the Ramp at Mumbai Lakme Fashion Week

Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) is a jointly organized by Lakme, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty brand in India and IMG Fashion, global leader in the management and production of fashion weeks and designer fashion events. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”. LFW is organized twice annually. LFW Fall Winter 2009 will be held on 27th to 31st March’09 at Hotel Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Over 60 designers will be showcasing their fall and winter collection.

The Lakme Fashion Week also sees a change in venue in it’s 10th year. Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) hosted its sixth model auditions on 2nd February, 2009 for its forthcoming Fall-Winter 2009 season that will be held this March from 27th to 30th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, moving from NCPA in South Mumbai in the suburbs perhaps an attempt to make the event much more accessible to the general public. EK-THE POWER OF ONE

Composer Pritam Chakarborty seems to be losing his megical touch if one were to go by the Album of ' Ek-The Power of One'' Bang Bang " crooned by Rana Muzumdar starts well with a heavy doze of electronic sounds. The song sets the mood and keeps it intact till the end. Powerful signing and strong musical arrangements make the track a good hear. Like most Pritam Chakarborty, ' Sambhale' is soked in Punjabi flavour. Sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan, the song has a long prelude but picks up well. However, the number fails to reach the standards set by Pritam. ' Sona Lagda' with Shashwati's honey-tucked voice instantly gives a heard-before feeling. Lack of exprimentation makes the song very ordinary. Up next in the remix version of ' Sona Lagda ' that adds nothing to the quality of the original and falls flat in its attempt to become a chartbuster.
The last song of the Album ' Tum Saath Ho', has a distinct resemblance to Pritam earlier composition " Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai ". But once again there is nothing fresh that the song has to offer. on the whole the five- song soundtrack of "Ek-The Power of One", fails to impres. The tied and tested formula of using particular genres in the soundtrack doesn't work too well for his album.

Shah Rukh Khan [Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain]

Shah Rukh Khan has his stint with the small screen with the show Kya Aap Panchvi Paas Se Tez Hain. His solidarity with the five children on the show, as well as his witty comments and jokes with the contestants, were reasons enough for him to be the darling of the masses.

DOG'S NAME

Slumdog Millionaire sure is inspiring some extra reactions among Indians. Nicholas Almeida, a slum dweller who has filled a complaint in a local court against Danny Boyle, producer Christian Colson and the distributor of the film for the 'damaging discriminating' title, has named stray dogs after those involved in the film in the protest. Nicholas held a naming ceremony for stray dogs in the slum to publicies his cause. " I have named them Danny, Christian, Loveleen, Dev and Frieda, " he said, referring to the director, producer, Co-director Loveleen Tandan and actors Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto.

FIZA ALI ( THE GIRL-NEXT DOOR)

Bollywood actress Amrita Arora, who tied the knot with businessman Shakeel Ladak recently, says she knew he was the one for her as soon as they met since they have " a karmic connection ". "The minute I set my eyes on Shakeel I knew he was teh man I wanted to marry. It's felt it. I had never felt this before. Shakeeel is eveyhing that I want my husband to be. And I'm determined to make our marriage work. I'll do whatever it takes, " Amrita told media.

FRIEDA PINTO ( THE NEXT BOND GIRL)

Slumdog Millionaire is a runaway hit: made on a budget of US $15 million, it's raked in well over five times that amount. SIt's also bagged dozens of awards-including for 10 Oscars and Frieda Pinto is, suddenly everywhere: in London, Los Angeles, New York, Mumbai and Toronto, seemingly all at once. She's hanging out with Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo with Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslete, Paris Hilton and Sean Penn. She's emerging as a new style icon; she even topped style com's 10Best Dressed list in early February (beating Renee Zellwegger and Wendi Murdoch). Luck, it seems is rooting for Frieda as she is being touted as the next Bond girl. She is definitely going places. According to the report of a UK magazine, Pinto is a hot contender to star opposite Daniel Craig in the next film Bond 23. It has also been reported that the director of Slumdog Millionaire. Danny Boyle will be helming the next spy thriller. So far, Frieda has neither confirmed nor denied this story. Pinto is being regarded as a symbol of a ' New Young Indian', filled with promise and potential: she's modern, beautiful, articulate, independently successful, part of a growing middle-class that's equally at home in the East and West.

SALMAN FLARED UP... AGAIN!

The notorious actor, Salman Khan seemed to be in great spirits at Amrita Arora's sangeet. But suddenly his mood changed when SRK walked in. Salman suddenly started pacing up and down and even took off his shirt in anger. He became even more rilled up when reporters asked him about a patch up with SRK. Unable to take it anymore and without a work to anyone, her took off in an auto rickshaw leaving his car behind. Katrina who was strangely oblivious to teh escalation of his bad mood, was also left behing! Katrina was last seen enjoying herself at the sangeet on her won.

KANGANA RUNAUT AS MADHUBALA

Kangana Runaut is all set to reprise her role as a Gangster's moll in once upon a time in Mumbai she is slated to star as the veteran actress Madhubala who was reportedly also Haji Mastan's love interest. Based on the life history of the underworld don of the 1960s, Haji Mastan, the film is being produced Strangely enough. Kangana was the third choice for the film. The film makers had initially considered Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra for the role. Ajay Devgan is also on board and will portray Haji Mastan, while Emraan Hashmi will play the young Dawood.
